It’s been made clear by Google that having an active social media presence is an important part of SEO. If you have haven’t given much attention to social media as part of SEO, then now is the time to get things rolling

The two main ones right now are Facebook and Twitter. Facebook should be treated the same way you would treat your own website. Content you post on there should have titles and content that is SEO friendly. Another thing to keep in mind is the number of fans, likes and shares you have, the more you have the better. Twitter work in similar manner. The more your account gets mentioned the better it is. A big factor for Twitter is making sure to that you place your keywords close to your links. In other words, try and surround your links with good keywords when Tweeting.

So there you have it! Having an active social media presence can help your company’s website rank better in Google, Bing and Yahoo. Remember that this isn’t a replacement for having a website that is SEO friendly with great content and links. But rather another tool to use when looking to boost your ranking.
